Howdy all!

Towards the end of Comfortably Numb from Pulse (right when the disco ball opens up and the light show goes apeshit), Dave plays a simple Ab - F motif (diving the Ab down to the F and then letting the F raise back up)...this much I know, but I can't figure out what effect he adds right before doing this. From watching the video, you can see him step on a pedal, but I don't know which one.

Any ideas, oh knowledgeable effects hounds?

On the Pulse CD/DVD, Dave plays an extended exit solo...right towards the end the disco ball that is over the crowd opens up and the stage lighting goes bananas...this is the point in the solo where the single note Ab - F motif happens and the sound is incredible. It's not a delay effect....maybe a chorus or thick reverb....I dunno. Check it out....it is amazing.

Well, you could always *find it* on the web, or buy it off of Ebay. Either way, you should try to get the CD....the concert is great and includes all of DSOTM in it's sequence.

Anyone else have any ideas about the sound in question?

when he's diving on the whammy bar at the end.. is that where your talking about?? If so, I agree, that just grabs you and bends you with the notes. I'll revisit it and see if I can figure it out.

I'm working strictly from memory of the video here...but I'm thinking maybe a flanger. That mixed with the whammy bar stuff.

I think there is a change in the effects before the part I'm referring to. You can see Dave step forward and it looks like he's stepping on a pedal.

im hearing those bends, with his highest note in the riff already bent up a full step he brings it back down a full step. then repeats it several times. what a light show too! i guess thats the part your talking about. i must of miss him kicking a pedal, did'nt see that. i love that kind of melodic playing! only from the heart!
