I just heard that red house version of hendrix's song, and its killer!!!
I believe there is Eric Johnson playing, Satch and Vai. Its weird cuz at about 1/3 of the song, there is a part where it seems like Satch is playing but the tone is exactly like Eric Johnson's in G3's "My guitar wants to kill your mama". Anyone knows more about the G3's version of the song? |

I can't comment on who's playing on that track, but it was the show finale, and Eric Johnson didn't join up for the Canadian tour dates for some reason. I saw them live a few years back. There was a local, Michel Cusson, who stole the show in my opinion. Vai broke a string, and this Cusson guy played a hardtail with thicker strings. His tone was meaner than Satch or Steve! I was impressed anyway...

Michel Cusson did play a nice gig on that one. I was there was surprise to see him there at first being that he's more of a Jazz guy but he did impress many that night.
He used to be in Uzeb (Jazz) and he also used to be on a lot of local TV bands, lately he's been into film music writing. A long time Godin endorsee, he can have a mean tone too bad no rock or blues project is shaping for him... maybe in the future who knows. Confessed Pickaholic! |
