Hey King

Good news is you picked probably the easier U2 to try to replicate sound wise Smile

I dont think the compressor went into the rig until the Joshua Tree era at that point it was a MXR Dyna Comp, not sure if it was script or block logo. Now saying what as applied in the studio though.

For "I Will Follow" you need Gibson style guitar. The Edge used an Explorer but anything Gibson with humbuckers will get you there. The other main guitar for that era was a late 70's Fender Strat.

for effects it was Probably the FA-1 pre amp / eq (set to boost more than anything) if at all. Nothing sounds exactly like one, I have heard the Keeley Katana is pretty close in design. I think any good clean boost will get you close. there are a few people making clones of it, but they are almost as rare as the orginal.

Dirt was a stock Boss SD-1 (The Edge is now using a TS-9) Maybe the Big Muff (3rd version i think, the one that the NYC reissue looks like), not sure if it was on that album or if it was later.

Delay was a stock EH Deluxe Memory. Good new there, I think the newer ones are built better than they used to make them => Set it around 250ms One / two repeats, with a hint of vibrato.

Amp: Any Vox AC-30 style amp, though i would go for a lower watt style 15-18 watts so its not insanely loud.

If I was going to guess I think I Will Follow was: Explorer - SD-1 - Memory Man - Vox.

Listen to Under a blood red sky to hear how it sounds outside of the studio.

Beyond that its just learning to play like him.. Thats the big part of it, probably harder than anything else you can have all of his stuff and sound nothing like him.
