hi guys! im new to this forum! im a MCR fan (lol) and i was wondering, on the solo of "Thank You for the Venom", it sounds mechanical, you can hear it best on a live performance http://youtube.com/watch?v=BgpI6BCzMsA during the solo, what effect is that? i would really like to get my hands on one of them pedals

Distortion Sounds like to me distorted amp then more distortion....

so would he be using a distortion pedal? because the thing is it like, stutters, and kinda stops near the beginning

Yeah the stuttering appears to be fast tremolo picking, unless he is using the toggle on the Les Paul. Turn off the volume on the neck pu and move the toggle up and down quickly to stutter. Yes lots and lots of distortion. Me myself I use a SuperHard on for leads....
