How did they get that fuzz sound for the intro to Dr John's "Right Place, Wrong Time"? It's similar to fuzz on some of the Sly Stone tunes as well. What modern pedal could do those sounds??

That intro will be tough to duplicate because I think it's a clavinet thats being distorted . Any " Fuzz Face " type unit should get you close . It is a really great sound isn't it .

Try a fulltone 69 pedal for early Jimi stuff (experience, axis, etc) try the fulltone 70 pedal for later jimi (band of gypseys [sp???]) or the boss fz3 (i tried it and it sounded just like the 70 pedal and it was like half as expensive. I prefer the 69 from the 3

the meaning of my post was that jimi used a arbiter fuzz face so you can get an idea for which one does what. The 69 pedal is the best replica of the arbiter
