I have been playing live and recording with a late 90's Twinmaster 212 for over a year now and could not live without it. It cuts through a band without sounding ice-pickish or harsh better than anything I have ever used. (i have owned over 150 tube amps) I play a '96 Tom Anderson Hollow Classic Strat-style and a 2003 '51 Relic Custom Shop Tele that I converted to a one pickup Esquire with a Kinman Broadcaster pickup in the bridge. I have a very simple pedalboard with a Barber Tone Press>Barber Direct Drive>Barber Direct Drive SS>BOSS TR-2 Trem>Ernie Ball Volume Pedal>Amp Input. (A BOSS RV-3 is in the loop, as I HATE the sound of verb/delay type pedals in front of the amp!!) All of this is connected very simply with a PedalSnake. VERY clean and neat on stage...necessary as I am clumsy!! ha...

Anyway, the Twinmaster has a very unique Vox-meets-vintage-Marshall combo feel/tone. Chime turns to purr to wail as the volume goes up. The 18-watt amp is VERY loud!! The only caveat is that it doesn't really start to sound great until you hit about 3 o'clock!! My experience is that there is NO substitute for a certain amount of volume. Because the amp isn't harsh sounding, the volume just isn't as much of an issue. Plus, on a tangent that is RARELY brought up, touch, tone and note selection plays a HUGE role in how volume is perceived.

I love this amp so much, I purchased an early (Sr# 0021) PTP Budda Superdrive 18-112 combo. It has a similar, but slightly less "open" clean channel, but an AMAZING lead tone. Very much like a great plexi with considerably more front end gain on tap.

On large shows, I play about a dozen large (10,000+ audience) outdoor festival shows a year, I run both amps together via the Slave out function. I spread the amps a few feet apart and bask in the glory!!! Sound engineers constantly tell me that my tone is beautiful and applaud me for not being too loud.....even though I play louder than most nowdays.....

The bottom line is that Budda (along with Dr Z)makes amazing, REAL sounding amps. The Twinmaster belongs at the absolute top of the crop in my opinion.

thanks,
Buddaman Big Grin

Oh yeah!

BUDDA ROCKS. Wink

Glad to hear, there's another one of us Twinmaster users.

I've got a 210 combo, and a 30 wat Twinmaster Plus head. I run the head through a Traynor 212 cab, with Texas Heats.

I love 'em both. I often run into the low gain input, as that seems to give me a more open, controllable OD tone. Sometimes, I use a Timmy pedal. This lets me get back some of the "cranked" tone, at a little lower volume.
I also dig a FD2, or a Blues Pro with the TMs.

There's a couple of us Budda guys, lurking around here. Maybe they'll chime in....

GUILTY!! Big Grin

The twinmaster is one of the best amps ever, it just can do no wrong and thankfully for me, it's idiotproof. I've had a Stringmaster and SuperDrive 80 as well. Both great in their on right, but I run back to the TM every time. Above is my newest Budda. One of the last hand wired Verbmaster 18 w/ the matching 10/12 cab..

How do you feel the 18watts does at pushing that cab? I have SD18 that I want to covert to 2/12 combo but I'm curious about the whole 'headroom' issue.

I'm thinking of differnt speakers as well. Maybe mix it up with the stock Budda and maybe a Celestion or Eminence Red Fang(just xample there)
