Guys, nice to see you are passionate about tone!! Or are you???? I own a recording studio, own and have owned HUNDREDS of amps, boutique to junk, but I must say my FAV amp is the Dr. Z Maz 18 Junior w/ Reverb 2x12 w/ Celestion Blues. It covers ALL the bases, great clean, chime, grind, loud and responsive and loves pedals. Lots of headroom and every guitar sounds unique. I am selling MOST of my gear because I am having a career change, but the Z's will stay! Enough said!!!

I must say I love the sound of my Maz 18. never had an amp as with the response of this, feels like it is adding something to the sound not just amplifing it..

That being said the tube started to go the first gig, and the place i got it was no help. but a retubing with JJ's fixed everything, and some how it ended up sound louder than it ever did. Win Win in my book.

twang007,

I hope you understand the importance of the information, "gone form reality" has bestowed upon us.

Wow. A nameless person who knows someone! And this someone is "higher up" in the music "business" than you. That IS impressive.
Maybe someday, we'll ALL get those "special ears" that they give to the "higher ups". Big Grin
I sure hope so. Because my 41 years of listening/playing is just worthless, until I get those "special ears".
I sure hope that all of those professional musicians that use those old, crappy DR.Z amps, get the "special ears", too. Otherwise, they will never know how bad they truly sound.

Let us pray.

Am new to the forum all, and don't want to be disrepectful but I picked up a new Maz Jr a couple of months ago (never having played one) because of all I heard and have to say I am very dissapointed. Amp is harsh and the distortion thin. My Carr Slant 6V quite frankly blows it away. I am seriously thinking of selling it. I play severl Starts, PRS's and Teles thru it and it doesn't matter. Maybe it's just me. To each his own I guess.

Dr. Z amps do have a definate sound. They aren't for everybody. I personally love them, but don't play them. I much prefer a Budda, or a Fender.

No apoligies needed, no pedal, amp, guitar is for everyone. If it where that way it would be cheaper for all of us!
