I just got a TWINMASTER 2X10 combo. It's outrageous. I've always used Fender type amps, and wanted something new. I've only had the Budda for two weeks, so I probably will need to update my impressions after the honeymoon is over.
LOUD. 18 watts of LOUD. It does remind me of an older Marshall. Very aggressive, with a tight, and thumping bass. Again, the 10 in. speakers, and 18 watts is misleading. I can't wait to take it to the studio, and try it with a 4X12. The high end is also like a PARK amplifier.
Listen to "Georgia On A Fast Train" by Shaver. That is a strat, through a Park 100 watt. Eddie's tone on that song is close to the sound of the Twinmaster, in my opinion.
I would like to hear what other Twinmaster owners with more experience, think of their tones. Like I said, I've only had it a couple of weeks.
Has anyone tried an Airbrake, or Hotplate with this amp? It's great for gigs, but for practice/rehearsals, it's too loud. I use a Full Drive 2, and will be trying a Rat (As a booster), next practice.
One last thing: I've just bought a Twinmaster Plus (30 watt) that has a master volume. I hope it doesn't suck out all of the beauty of the power amp!

congrats on the new amp!you'll dig it more as time passes.i bought mine new in '95,ser.# 0066
for only $700!!mine came with 2 10" mojotones.
what interested me the most @ first, besides being point to point wired, was the simplicity
of the design.hi & lo inputs,vol,treble,& bass.
what more do you need.the literature @ the time said it was designed to sound like a cross of a deluxe & ac-30,w/the attack of a 50 watt plexi.
while not sounding like any of those exactly,i
thought the description fits.for such a small, compact combo the tones it produces are amazing.creamy, harmonically rich leads, crunchy rhythm,& it does have some headroom.if you use
your guitars vol & tone knobs this amp will do
almost everything but twin reverb clean.& yes,it is a loud 18 watts, but it is still only 18 watts.forget hotplates & mini's,etc. crank this sum'bitch open & step back & smile! ask my boy willie the b-man!

t.l.a.m.f. !

Okay, I got the Twinmaster Plus. It's 30 watts, and THICK!
The attenuator works, but it's not ideal. I may try the Airbrake. The guy I got the amp from said he used an ULTIMATE attenuator. Has anyone heard of these?
I borrowed the Peavey Triple XXX 212 cab from the music store I teach out of. I think it's made of poplar. Maybe birch ply. It seems to sound kind of harsh. I will probably call Avatar, or Ear Candy.
I may get the Eminance speakers. Has anyone tried these with a Twinmaster? This amp is very similar to my 210 combo, but thicker and seems to have more harmonics to the notes.
The other option I'm considering is to buy a cab, and put Hempcone speakers in it. They are reportedly a little smoother in the top end. Maybe a 1210 cab.
I've always been a combo guy, so I need some help as to what speakers to use with this head. I like the 10s in the combo.

Well, I've had to return the Fender HM212 cab to my buddy. I bought a Traynor YCX212.
It is small, lightweight, and made of birch. But, the Celestion 70/80 speakers leave a lot to be desired. I, m going to try Eminence. One of the music stores I teach at, will order some speakers to try out. I will be trying :

2 x Texas Heat

TH and Red Fang

TH and Cannabis Rex (probably smokin', but maybe not a finalist in my search. Curious, though.)

TH and Wizard

Without trying them, my guess is that I will prefer either 2 x TH, or TH and Wizard. With the RF going into my 59 Princeton.

I am going to record all of the various combinations, and try to post them.
