I also remember that people were saying that Dimarzio's parts were great quality at least around 1990.

According to their current price list online they're worth 5.95$ for 250k.

If you don't want DiMarzio I'd also check into electronics mail order company... Small Bear comes to mind, for a good service with no minimum order. Ask him he might have some ides to share on the subject.

Alpha is the brand name used in a lot of high quality pedals.

The Taiwan Alpha pots that I stock are fine for pedals and amps. For guitar pots (which tend to get turned more) CTS is a better choice.

Sources I know of include Stew-mac, www.guitarelectronics.com and John Sprung's PartsIsParts.

Allen-Bradley, is one Clarostat is another and Bourns is about the best in conductive plastic. I once did a mod that included a Clarostat 1K volume pot. That guitar had the SMOOTHEST taper ever! a perfect fade to off. BTW that guitar had low impedence pickups and onboard circuitry. hence the super low ohmage of the pot.
