Well just as an update on the old post...

I tried the new Goding LG HMB (humbucker version) since and I liked it, very comfortable axe to say the least. I'm gonna have to do some serious A/B tests with a LesPaul standard if I can ever find a store with both in stock or better yet a store who rents these, I could enjoy a week end with both of these Wink

SRV or anyone else I've been on that mindset for a long time myself, and that's also why I don't like doing covers much unless allowed to put a twist on them Wink

Ahhhhhh, the voice of ignorance rears it's head... Big Grin

Seriously, Carvins are about the best bang for teh buck that you can get. Fat chance at being able to get a TRULY custom Gibson LP for under $3000. You can get all that and more for FAR LESS than half that price with Carvin.

About 4 months ago, I ended up selling my American Tele in order to pay some bills. As much as it hurt, I was at least pacified by the thought of replacing it with a Carvin in the somewhat near future. They are truly some fantastic sounding and playing guitars. Back when I played bass, I borrowed a friend's 6-string Carvin bass on which he had about every bell and whistle installed. It was simply the best sounding, playing and feeling bass that I've touched to date.

The way I see it, I can get a guitar made to MY specs (not the "general public's"), with the woods I want, the pickups I want, the neck materials I want, tuners, headstock shape, finish work, etc., etc., etc. and it'll TRULY be a first-class unique instrument that you won't see every day.
