I was reading about this and wondered if anyone else has tried or had experience with it. Supposedly its a 1/16th inch nut adjustment with some bridge adjustment, making the guitar play in tune better.

Yup, I had this done to my main Strat a few years ago now.

I like it, but it's not as 'dramatic' as you might think - I woudn't dream of changing back, but I haven't bothered doing it to my spare Strats either.

It does make the guitar sound slightly better 'in tune' overall, but particularly noticable when playing in a bigger group with keyboards, brass etc. - I don't know if I'd bother having it done if I only ever played in a rock 3-piece.

I need to use the Korg DT-7 tuner for set-ups & tuning - there are "offsets" to be applied when tuning-up, in addition to the physical changes. The tuner makes this very easy and in fact I use the offsets even on non-Feitenized guitars.

My Tacoma Roadking acoustic seems to have the nut moved forward too, I checked the set up with the "Feiten setting" on the DT-7 and it's spot on, so I always tune it with the offsets (which are different for acoustic, there's a switch on the tuner to selct guitar/bass type). Tacoma don't mention this anywhere (- maybe to avoid having to pay royalties to Buzzy?)

Got a shock the other day when I tried to tune the Roadking with an old Sabine tuner, my ears woudln't accept when the tuner said it was "in tune" & I so adjusted it by ear till it sounded perfect to me, then checked with the Korg tuner switched to "Feiten" - it was exactly right according to the Feiten method. Howdy!

Hmmm... This whole mod kinda rubs me the wrong way... Part of the electric guitar's charm for me is that not everything works together 100% of the time... Notes rub up against each other sometimes... That's what makes playing a guitar into a cranked amplifier so much fun... But I'm just a punk 21 year old kid, right? Heh...

I've read the patent, which you can look up and read at the US Patent Office website. It's pretty complicated and requires that offset tuning. I've never tried a Feiten system, but I did install an Earvana nut on my guitar, a Warmoth custom Strat copy, and I like it.

hey skreddy,i have this feature on my anderson guitar, have had it about 3 years now, bass notes seem to be tighter and chords are true all the way up the neck.you will have to get the korg tuner that has the feiten tuning to touch up your intonation sometimes[string guage changes]It works great.

I like the Buzz Feiten tuning system but and have it on a new Washburn acoustic but you know I still prefer the traditional setup cause to me that is part of the guitars charm. In a way the
BFTS makes for a keyboard like sounding guitar.

HERE IT IS! guitars that don't have the Buzz Feiten tuning system play 50% in tune, and guitar that have it play 95% in tune, they say u can't hear the 5% imperfection so a guitar that plays 95% in tune is perfect to us humans. some people can hear these things barr a F in the 1st postion and play a open D ur can hear it, and for some of us it kills but others could care less. i had it done to my PRS custom 22 and it sounds amazing now!
