I recently purchased a Crate G250 amp, and, as it hasn't been played in close to 10 years the pots are in desperate need of cleaning. When I got the amp home however I realized that, although I know the how of pot cleaning, I have no clue on what to do it with.
I mean is there anything that I might have on hand that would do besides going out to a guitar shop and purchasing pot cleaner? My first instinct is alcohol, but I'm afraid of hurting the pots. Can somebody help me out here? Thanks |

You can get Electronics Parts Cleaner, at Radio Shack. Maybe even Wal-Mart.
Compressed air would probably work. But, I'd go for the actual parts cleaner. I don't think there's any other options, short of taking the pots apart and brushing them clean.
