so i bought a hot head guitar pedal and like 2 months later it started acting wierd... when i turn the distortion on it doesnt do anything but when i turn off the distortion it works fine! wtf? can anyone help me???

Hot Head "digitech" pedal?
Battery or power supply powered?
When you say "turn the distortion on" do you mean step on/engage the pedal?
It "could" just be a dead battery and when turned off the signal is passing through the pedal though I don't think (?) that that pedal is true by-pass.
Many times with those pedals just taking the switch apart - carefully - and putting it back together fixes it.
Did you get it new at a shop? If so, take it back.
