I play mostly strats and teles and can get my tones very quickly on Fenders. I also own a '61 Reissue Les Paul TV Special and SG Classic(Both with P-90's). I have no problems when using either the bridge or neck pickups alone. The problem is when I use the middle position with both pickups on. With the dual volume controls, by the time I've found the balance and tone I'm looking for, the tune is over. I'm considering bypassing one of the volume controls in favor of one global volume control. It seems like a more user friendly way to go for a Fender oriented player. Any comments on whether I can and should do this? Could I re-wire in such a way that the two tone controls would remain as they are? Also, When I play Fenders, I have clean boost on all or most of the time. (Klon, P.E. Germ, Z.Vex SHO, Fat Boost, Route 66, Sparkle Drive, MXR MicroAmp; I have several pedal boards. Main gigging amp is VOX AC-30TB) With the Gibsons, due to higher output P-90's, the signal is already "Boosted" and "Clean Boost" pedals act as additional overdrives. BTW, this is my first post of any kind, ever. Been eavesdropping for quite a while.......Some excellent advice here; Thank you all.

It can be wired that way but it will be the same as having both volumes always equal ... which is what " most " Gibson style players do anyway . Welcome to the forum . - KL .

Following up on my first post here:

I did the single global volume control thing on the SG Classic. There are some really nice and subtle tonal shades that can be dialed in with the two volume controls when using both PU's, but I always had trouble getting the balance and getting it quickly. This approach seems to make more sense for a Fender bender like me.

I'll live with this a while, and maybe do the the same with the Les Paul Special eventually.
