Out of curiosity anyone ever had a coil tap at the neck humbucker on their LP?

I love LP and I love how a single coil sound at the neck, just wondering if this "out of the norm" idea makes sense in real life, anyone tried it?

If that makes sense that is something to consider, since all I need is a humbucker at the bridge, at the neck and a single coil sound at the neck...

Silly thought?

I think it would depend on the PU. Most Humbuckers I've heard split sound so lame it wouldn't be worth the effort.

I have some Joe Barden HB 2 tones in my guitar and they are the exception. In fact they sound very much like a single coil even in Full mode, just bigger.

I would think about something like the Harmonic Design P90's that fit into a HB slot. The TVJones PU's would be fun to try too.

I'm thinking of an EMG 89 here, supposed tosound like an EMG SA once in coil tap... but I'm curious of results that others had in a Les Paul(either Gibson, Epiphone or others clone)

Thanks for your thoughts on this Whitey.

I love mine. I had my LP customized with a pair of Tom Holmes PuPs with coil taps and push-pull switches.
Sounds killer!
