So I tried to order a 4 pack of LM1458s from ebay, they came today and they were FUCKING MINISIZED.
so I have some "MC1458s" from back in the day but I noticed they didnt say LM so I was afraid maybe they werent the exact 1458 I wanted so I bought these and now I am stuck with crap that wont fit. Will the Mc1458s work? I think they are motorolla if NOT I tried to get on small bear a couple of times but it got on my nerves, will anybody with small bear or mouser experience send me a link to the right LM1458 I am supposed to get so that I can order some from one of the above mentioned companies or anyother that you might suggest. I got a blues pro that I am DYING to put a 1458 in because it is so sweet sounding and if I can get a little of the "gainster (clark/barber)" fizzle out of the low gain setting then it will be damn near PERFECT for me..... thanks! |

You got surface mount chips. You want P or D (plastic dual inline package) or DIP for short.
Try this link. http://www.mouser.com/search/refine.aspx?Ntt=lm1458 They have everything you need Bob Sweet Sweet Sound Electronics www.sweetsound.com http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=664651 |

Let me know how the new chips sound in the BP. I love my BP, and would be interested in what a chip swap could do for it. Thanks!

Another thing I've wondered: Someone with more pedal knowledge than I, said that the BP was similar to an Eternity, except for the tone stack.
I've never tried an "E". But, if anyone knows what differences there are in the tone controls, I'd be willing to try modding my BP to try it out. DO IT!!! The LM1458 actually its an MC1458 but they are interchangeable according to the chart that mr sweet linked !!!! sweet! anyways, this thing cleaned up on the low gain boost SO MUCH and the top end still seems untouched as far as gain and clarity and full on bolt throwing potential. Once again i use teles and fender amps so the outcome may be different for someone else not using fender amps but this unit is now STAYING on my board where as before I was sort of dissapointed. Don't know bout the "E" thing BTW, I put a MC1458 in my burriss boostiest and now it is an amazing tone stacker too! This chip is pretty versatile apparently also BTW I tried a tl072 and a LM833 in the Blues Pro which neither one were an improvement over the stock 4558 1458 was a definite bingo though in both pedals but the difference it made in the BP was nothing short of holysh#t spectacular for me...... |
