I've recently changed the pickup in my sg to a duncan designed sh-4 jb which has a lot higher output than my previous pickup
i found that in a few of my modded distortion pedals the sound has been messed up when the gain is let lower than full. theres a swooshy splatty sound when i strike a full chord hard the volume swells after a little delay. its a very ugly sound
just wondering if anyone know why and hway it is and how to change it

How close is the pickup to the strings when you press the strings at the last fret? The pickup may be too close to the strings. How are the polepieces adjusted? Height and pole settings make a HUGE difference.
