Hey guys
I have a standard single coil strat but am planning on putting in a humbucker on the bridge.
How hard would it be ?? Im not real handy with a
soldering iron.I want,if possible to have a spilt coil,with a push/pull pot.
Does anyone have any info,or know of any sites
that might be helpful.

Little caveat for you about mixing buckers and single coils: Since the Strat only has a single master volume control, you're going to compromise your pot values. Humbuckers tend to sound better using a 500K pot, while brighter single coils sound best through 250K pots. Running both style p-ups through one volume control means robbing one to favor the other. Your other option is to wire a second volume control in place of one of the tone pots and use that as a dedicated volume for the bucker. I've gone through all permutations and ultimately chucked in the towel on having a bucker in a strat. YMMV.

Yeah, forget buckers, in my opinion. Not as versital as singles. get a nice hot single and you're in business. You could try an active boost tone control, as well, gives a single coil a bit of a humbucking tone, a bit fuller and it can be turned off, passive. I would stay away from humbuckers all together, it's a strat!!!

Put a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder in there! About as fat as a P-90, and clear like any other single coil. Rio Grande makes some good options, too.

I've fitted a few Kent Armstrong rail p/up's in the bridge position for a few friends and find them less muddy and cheaper than the Duncans,available at http://www.wdmusicproducts.com or via Ebay sales, I prefer to wire them through the bottom tone pot that way You can roll the control back and forth for single coil or humbucker and anything in between, I then wire all 3 p/up's through the first tone control and it gives pretty good versatility, You could if You prefer wire it through a push/pull pot but it can't be brought on gradually doing it that way it's either or.
