I recently purchased a Crate G250 amp, and, as it hasn't been played in close to 10 years the pots are in desperate need of cleaning. When I got the amp home however I realized that, although I know the how of pot cleaning, I have no clue on what to do it with.
I mean is there anything that I might have on hand that would do besides going out to a guitar shop and purchasing pot cleaner? My first instinct is alcohol, but I'm afraid of hurting the pots.
Can somebody help me out here?
Thanks

You can get Electronics Parts Cleaner, at Radio Shack. Maybe even Wal-Mart.
Compressed air would probably work. But, I'd go for the actual parts cleaner. I don't think there's any other options, short of taking the pots apart and brushing them clean.
