I've been aware of this site for some time, and finally got around to joining up. My hope is to advance my understanding of amps and effects, since my focus has been vintage guitars for years. I've been blown away by the amount of expertise you all have in such things. I recently thought of you all when I visited the Kansas City Musicians Friend clearance center. This is where they sell all the returned and damaged merchandise from their catalog business. I suppose MusicToyz has one too. Anyway, after Christmas, this place is loaded with stuff. I usually cruise the sea of guitars, looking for something that is easily fixable and that they've marked way down. This trip, the mountain of amps was incredible! I'm not an amp junkie, and know little of electronics, but if I was... it would be a wonderland of opportunity. The shelves full of defective stomp boxes was unusually robust as well. There must have been 300 items, wah-pedals, effects, tuners... seemingly every stomp-box under the sun! Makes me want to go back to school and take some electronics classes. There was a guy there who clearly was a "fixer", and he was grabbing a lot of stuff. I suppose he'll fix them, then flip them on Ebay or something. Anyway... for those who haven't experienced this type of gear graveyard, it is a sight to behold!
