I've been offered a cheap (ovation) Appause model acoustic for $40. The only problem is that there is a crack coming from the nut to about the middle of the first fret on the neck. The crack itself is not showing a large cavity and/or seem to be seperating from the pressure being created from the string tension, so...
Is there a way to do a quick fix on this problem? Is there a glue I could push into the crack to fix it? It's a cheap ovation and I don't want to spend a lot of money to fix it but would love to buy it to have since it is an acoustic/electric and really don't have any other decent acoustic guitars to play at this point. Is it worth the $40? Suggestions for repair appreciated. I could take a picture of the crack tonight to show the extent of the damage if that would help you folks answer this question. Thanks Mojo |

You could put some Tite-Bond glue into the crack, and clamp it tight for a couple of days. Before you do, make sure the neck isn't twisted. Also check the neck to body joint.
