Hey I have a question...how can I modify my 1960 closet classic strat so that I can get a tone that is a mixture of SRV and Angus Young? I know that is a crazy mix, but I think the two blended together would sound awesome. I play a closet classic strat upgraded with Dunlop 6110 fret wire...I play through a 96 Fender Hot Rod Deluxe...any suggestions on replacement speakers, tubes, or mods for the amp?

Thanks,

Josh

By a Marshall. The HRD won't do the Marshall sound.

I've designed a circuit that will give that marshally tone from a fender amp. If you can build a pedal, the schematic is at http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/v2/index.php?option=displaypage&Itemid=73&op=page&SubMenu=

I think it sounds better than 95% of the commercial pedals out there, including most boo-teek stuff. Right now I'm updating that design with another gain stage that will give some more drive and sustain.

Okay, the pedal is finished. You can either build it from scratch, buy a printed circuit board from JD, or buy the whole pedal from him. Pictures and sound clips are here:

If I were you I would buy a Menatone King of the Britains or Blue Collar. You just can't beat Menatone into a Fender amp. It will make your Fender sound just like a Marshall~!!!
I recomend the King of the britains tho. It is the best distortion I have ever owned and it really does sound like a Marshall with more than enough gain.
Or another option is a Chandler Tube Driver. They sound sweet as well.

Hope this helps in some way :-)
