I think I've found a guy in my town who can do a true bypass mod to an MXR Phase 45-I'm too scared to do the mod myself.
Can somebody refer me to a diagram or instructions that I could show the guy? There was another guy in town who actually works on pedals from guitar stores, but when I spoke with him, he was a jerk, didn't know what true bypass was, and acted like I was asking for a huge re-design of the pedal. It seems like people do the mod pretty regularly. So do I get a 3PDT switch off the Fulltone site and give this new guy some instructions or is more complicated than that? |

Is it an older pedal? The new mxr pedals are kind of tricky, the switch is soldered right to the pcb. However, I don't think there's any new reissue phase 45's so you might be good there.
You don't need a 3pdt switch unless you're looking to light up an indicator light also. Although crudely drawn, this is the best explanation on how to mod a pedal for true bypass: http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/articles/elbypass.html |
