My guitar doesn't provide enough treble I think and I remember seeing mention on how you can change out the tone pot to a higher value or something. Forget exactly what they did but I do feel that I'd like my tone knob to kind of sound when turned all the way down how it sounds all the way up right now. Know what I mean? Something about 1meg pots and 500k pots etc... I forget.
help is appreciated, Ken I'm cookoo for Buckethead! |

If you put a 1 meg pot in there, you'll get more high-end. As far as keeping the highs, as you roll down the vol., that's another mod. I don't remember how to do that one. Hopefully, someone will chime in.
Here's a link to a site, with a lot of mods, etc. http://www.torresengineering.com/volumekit.html "now i dream about tone, day dream about tone, think about tone at work, think about tone when im taking a dump, musiciansfriend and vintage guitar mag right next to the toilet....its getting weird" -BigRob |

Ok cool thats what I thought, so basically just change out the pot to a 1megger... whats this talk about ferrads etc... like .02 ferrad (capasitor talk I think).
I don't think I need the volume mod. Ken I'm cookoo for Buckethead! |

Place a .001µf capacitor between volume and tone control. Then when you roll off your volume, you retain your high end (as volume controls are in their essence filters). James says "jam on ... " |

I tried disconnecting my tone control by snipping three wires... didn't work. Thinks me snipped the pickup wires DOH! My guitar has the push pull pots you know that split the pickups or whatever. I never use it and should just have my wiring done up as simple as possible. I never play my neck pickup cuz its just boring and not nice at all. Thats why I'm trying to give this guitar more brighteness you know. Anyways if I just snip the cap .022 will that disconnect the tone control?

The Treble retention mod is a great thing to have, I jsut love it on my reverend. One of these days I will do it on my Jazz Master. =>
Another Thing to think about: maybe it might not be that bright of a guitar / amp? I would think a EQ pedal of some kind might be an option as well. ___ We can't stop here... this is bat country... Music is the best --FZ |

to get a little more treble out of your guitar, you should replace the tone-pot but the VOLUME pot. Try to change it to double the value of the existing pot.
Did you try to tweak the height of your pickups? Try that first!! |
