Picked one of these up recently - nice sound, very powerful, actual stereo combo amp since it's got two pairs of 10" and tweeter. Eminence 10", two 150 watts amps. Wasn't getting quite the bass response I expected without cranking the bass eq knob. Two bass ports on the back was my first clue...looked inside, there's a "wall" or "partition" right in the middle of the cab, separating the two stereo sides. My guess is to provide greater stereo separation, but the effective cabinet space for each 10" is quite small as a result - this would effect bass response quite a bit, wouldn't it? Any suggestions as to how much natural enhancement to low end frequency response I'd get with pulling out this partition? Any other things to consider? I don't think there'd be any phase cancelling or the like since both speakers would be wired the same way and each is running from it's own amp. With the partition gone, could then cover one of the two bass ports as well - I think that would be sufficient porting.
Yorkville is very well designed. the partition inside the cabinet is for acoustic reasons and you should not pull it out. It will not improve the sound or bass response. A 10" speaker does not have great bass reproduction, you will need to use larger speakers, 15" or larger. Yorkville also makes powered sub woofers that you can add to your system, and that is a good solution. Also just let me add that Yorkville is one of the best products out there for the money, and is a good choice. Made in Canada.
Can someone please tell me how to connect my Alesis MicroVerb4 to my Yorkville 300K Mixer Amp. The place I bought it from connected it up for me and then I had to unplug the connections and can't figure out how they should go back. Any help or suggestions GREATLY appreciated. thanks.
