hello all,

anybody know how david gilmour gets that great echo sound like on the time solo and echoes?

I think the echo unit he used back then was a Binson. I would imagine that was live only .
The studio work was probably done with tape delay.

yeah, i dont know everything about his setup but if you watch the live at pompei dvd you see his echoplex several times throughout the movie,

yea thats a sweet ass DVD, echos is banging. anyone know any more accessable unit i could use to achive this sound???

The Fulltone Tape Echo is very nice $$$$$.
Hiwatt has a tape echo also. On the less expensive end ;The Line 6 Echo Park has a great tape sound with the flutter and everything plus it does long delays , reverse and a volume swell thing.The Boss Giga Delay is real good too. Both units are worth checking out.They really did'nt have all this technology back then so anything decent is going to get you into the ballpark ,so to speak.

could i get his sound with a reverb pedal also or is it just a long ass delay?

I would say justhe long delay. I dont really remember ever hearing much reverb with Floyd.
