I've been a happy owner of a Clyde for four years now. At a gig last night, the pot started to become scratchy, so I bought some tuner cleaner and sprayed it today. Now the wah is acting very strange - it still works, and the scratch is gone, but the range of the sweep is much reduced. The low-end is totally gone.

What should I do? I didn't check the pedal this morning before spraying it, so I don't know if the spray is the culprit, or if the pedal was malfunctioning otherwise.

I've already emailed Mike Fuller with this question, but I thought the "heads" here would be able to help.

Hey Mike.
I wonder if maybe the pot got loose and the travel of the pedal is in a different range? That seems like the easiest answer.

I'm not sure that tuner cleaner (If you know enough to use tuner cleaner, it seems that you know HOW to use it, so I'll assume you weren't doing something impossible like soaking the pedal in it or drenching the inductor with it...not that I know if that would matter anyway) would hurt the pedal.

Does it seem like the treadle range has changed, or does it seem like the entire tonality of the circuit is being affected? I would loosen the pot and sweep it by hand and see if the bass range returns. If not, then I would say there is a failed component in there somewhere.

Anyone know where to look from there?

See what Fuller has to say first. Then If you are confident enough to do this take the pot apart and wipe it out. When you sprayed it you may have just spread any dirt around that was in there and garbled up the wiper contact.Thats what makes pots scratchy is dust and dirt. I would take it apart and wipe off the wiper and I bet it will be fine.
THOUGH>>> if you do this it may void any warranty that you have if the warranty is still in tact. The warranty may have been breached the moment you sprayed it too though.

Best of luck~!!
