Test question for those who have use/own original Univox Univibes (Shieni sp?)....

I have had mine for about one year (probably a 1970 or 71) and use it for the obvious Hendrix material and so on.... my question is for high gain signals, will the Univibe freak out if it gets too hot of a signal from preamps in front of it???

My setup (pedal board) is split and routed into two Marshalls, for this question I am only addressing the the part of the signal processing that actually goes thru the Vibe (1/2 of the rig). My setup for that leg is as follows, mongrol strat-> Mayer wah -> Mayer Axis fuzz->Keeley baked TS9 -> Keely modded TS808 ->Univox Univibe-> Marshall 50 watt rig. My preference when using the vibe is to use it with most of the other preamps off and get a nice clean underwater swirling sound from the vibe under those conditions for lower volume melodic lead material (intros... other). At the point where I want the hard core sustain and so on I stomp on one or more of the Afuzz/TS808/Baked TS9 pedals.

In my experience the Vibe gets kinda stuck in the background and swirls the fuzz & distortion around in such a way that the Vibe w/speed pedal varied is good for quick bursts of Leslie like sounds (excellent ascending/descending feedback w/tremolo bar) but I usually don't keep the vibe on all the time as it sinks into the background or possibly disrupts the sound rythym wise since it has it own sweep timing. I tried the vibe up in front of the three preamp pedals but the sound was messy and poor/thin. So now a few folks tell me to watch out with that particular vibe chain (with the vibe at the very end of the chain) or the Vibe will explode and lose some analog components since I am driving tooo hot of a preamped signal before it. I know one guy who used it after driving a strat->wah->octavia->Vibe -> city of Marshalls and it worked for him but he may have bought many of them I have tried to contact Bob Sweet of Sweet sounds to get his opinion but he is off the map for some reason or has not been able to respond to this question? any takers???????????????????????
