I don't get this- Unless I have some defective p-ups. I bought the Zakk set for my les paul off ebay, had them professionally installed.
I have been trying to track this problem down in my rig for a while...never suspected the emgs! I installed a (good)grounded gfi circuit in my room- have eliminated ground loops in rack...am using George L cables...etc. The lp with emgs picks up so much more 60 cycle hum than my other (normal humbucker) guitars. I have checked the solder joints and they all look fine...someone had suggested to hook up the bridge ground even tho emg says ya dont have to. Still HUM. =( bad emgs? btw. this is my first post here, cool forum! |

Well, I noticed that with gain, my kinmans had a little buzz. So I tested my other guitars with regular duncan humbuckers and they had the same buzz. Not huge, but there nonetheless.
If your house has dimmers installed or low voltage lighting anywhere, that can add noise to the AC. Assuming you've tried with other guitars and the problem is not there, it's possible that the EMG's are bad, or the battery is dying, especially if you don't unplug the guitar when not in use. "Poor soul, he was just too high strung... I'm afraid the strain was more than he could bear." |

thanks for the reply-
In my emails to emg tech support(pretty cool that they give me the time of day considering I didnt buy from authorized dealer)they seem to be doubtful that both pickups would be bad, I tend to agree. So I am gonna try to re-wire the whole thing...I'll let ya know how it goes. thanks |
