My sound volume fades in and out when plugged into the input, however does not do the same when plugged into the effects loop. This thing is useless like this. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be or know of a place in north jersey that could fix it?

Hello,

Sounds like your preamp section, very probably a pre amp tube. Try swapping around the tubes, sometimes a tube will cause problems in one area but be fine in another. The fact that the amp works when you go line in, or directly to the POWER amp, lets you know the power tubes are fine and your problem is in the pre amp. Write if this doesn't work.

Could also be a short in the effects loop jacks. When you plug into the send and return, you remedy the short. If you leave a cable just plugged into the send and return, with nothing in between, does the amp work OK?

Good suggestions so far. Try putting a guitar or patch cable alone in the FX loop. If this solves the problem you have dirty contacts in the FX jacks that close when nothing is in them to complete the circuit. You can spray a small bit of contact cleaner in them and work a plug in and out a few times.
If that doesnt do it try swapping out your pre amp tubes one at a time with one of your known good spares. Bob

I had the fifty watt 15 inch speaker version of this amp. It was great when it worked! I had the same problem...volume fades in and out, cracking and static sounds. The vintage club series just eats through tubes, and it'll blow fuses left and right. Being a El-84 amp, they run really really hot...hotter than a Vox. You might have noticed this. I got tired of dealing with it. I ended up selling the thing at a lost.

I had the V3112 for about 1.5 years. It would get very hot (touching the knobs was almost like touching a hot tube). They "repaired" it twice, and then the amp started fading in and out. the heat problem was never solved. Finally when I took it for repairs the 3rd time, they said they don't service them anymore -- just replace them. It took a few weeks, but I got a new one. It still had the heat problem, so I traded that for different amp shortly after that. Check you warranty. I think mine was 5 years. You may just get a new amp.
