He actually didn't come to my town, I drove from Detroit to Milwaukee to see his solo acoustic show. It was the best show I've ever seen. There wasn't a lot of flashy guitar playing because Ian is concentrating more on the songs these days. I'm planning a road trip to Austin in a few weeks to see him again.
It's good to find some people who know who Ian Moore is. He's so good at everything it is ridiculous. I saw him one yr in college around 1994. I had nothing to do as it was the Friday after finals. Went to check him out not knowing anything, and BLAM...he laid it down like no one I have ever seen. And I agree, as good as his guitar playing is, his singing is even better. At one of his concerts I was next to this big biker lookin guy and Ian had him crying during "Blue Sky"...
The trip to Texas was well worth it. Great songs from a great guy. I've become a bit obsessed with his music lately. It's actually hard for me to listen to anything else. And all the Colors has been in my CD player since I got back from Texas last month and it refuses to get old.
You guys all have great taste! LOL.. I'm in Texas so of course I have to love this guy! One of the best guitarists and vocalists that I have ever heard. Has anyone seen the new dvd?
I saw him at a small but elegant club in '97-ish, in S.F. His set was great, and then I think he got irked at management because they flickered the lights on and off, I guess in an effort to tell him, "Hey, wrap it up." He cued his band, and they launched into a super-fierce reading of "Spanish Castle Magic", which Ian capped with some gloriously raging feedback; over the din, he yells at the band, and then came a furious "Love Or Confusion", which he also finished in front of his Clubman, whammying the daylights out of his Strat; another shout-out, and they finished off with "Fire", and more feedback fireworks. To this day, I'm amazed that the Clubman survived it: by the end, Ian was feeding it a full-up '69 pedal, and at least the front end of a Fulldrive, and the Clubman was cranked. Needless to say, we all went home very happy. I think he did, too--we were whooping and hollering like crazy people.
