Howdy!
I've mentioned this album countless times on this BBS before, but I'm still sure that nobody has heard it... Anyway, it JUST tops "Live at Leeds" as the best live album ever recorded... That's my opinion of course... The level of energy captured on tape on this album is ABSOLUTELY INSANE... The guitar work of Don Wilson, and more importantly, Nokie Edwards is ridiculous... I have a hard time thinking of popular guitarists before 1965 who could come close to touching Nokie... Some proof of his prowess can be found on "Bulldog," in which he picks a solo behind the bridge on his Mosrite Ventures model, and "Caravan," in which he pulls out some of the most insane pull-off flurries I've ever heard... And behind all of this guitar mayhem lies one of the sickest drummers to ever grace the scene, the late Mel Taylor... Gah... Seriously, guys... GO BUY THIS ALBUM... It might be hard to find, but it's well worth ordering from your local record store... It's distributed by EMI, so it shouldn't be that tough to get a hold of it... But if you're a serious guitar player, you're truly missing out if you haven't heard this album... Oh! If you have AOL Instant Messenger, I'd be happy to send a few tracks your way... My name on there is Ursoluno... Now... Go forth and purchase the album! -Dave Nailling |
