Yeah thats right Rock music is sooo over. Have you seen ANYONE doing anythying new. I have not and have looked as far through indie rock, metal, grindcore, prog, post, whatever you want to fucking label it, NO ONE is capable of doing anything that is not the sum elements from several decades.
The fact that there is still this outrages conspiracy to keep rock alive in this RADIOPROTOOLSSYNTHNOVELTIED-OUT incubator, just so that it can stand up to the wider (Spectrum-wise) sound of DANCEMEGA HIPHOP POP is sick!!!!!! I just wish rock had died swiftly and glamorously but just turn on the radio and you can hear what dying rock music sounds like.
Indie rock bands are equally incapable of keeping Rock alive. There is just too much that has been covered and the operating system of that is essentially a sum of some elemnts from usually, really fantastic work, most likely done in the 60s or 70s has dried up and become such a cliche and CONTRADICTION for indierock or "non Mainstream" rock bands who truly aspire to make truly fresh music. (The White stripes and the strokes and the rest of this nausiating revivalists ARE mainstream bands as far as Im concerned) Rock music is also very expressive, more so than much else thats around. But I think the current generation of 18-22 at least, lives a lot differantly and I think being forthcoming with one's feelings (essentially why rock works) is applying less and less to the way this generation is living. I'm working on answers to rock music right now, as I do every day in between work. I do not supprot POP music but I do think there is a lot of room for innovation in hip hop, and all them similar styles you hear on the top 40. They still suck and are still made for idiots, but I think theres something fresh in that that aint rock, is still warm and juicy and needs to be exploited for SMART PEOPLE.
