It really depends on how you look at it. If Rock is all about rebellion, then it's been dead for years. If it's about artistic freedom, then it's been dead since the advent of MTV (Melodramatic Television). If it's not about greed then it's been dead since Ticketmaster and the start of outrageous ticket prices.

People have been saying that rock is dead, since the early '70s. Although I agree that there hasn't been anything fresh for quite sometime, the genre has a way of reinventing itself. Unfortunately it will only suffer domestication and yet another demise by the hands of the bloated artist and greedy record industry.
