Doug Pinnicks vocals, and Ty's guitar playing are one of the better musical matches I've heard.

Good shit maynard!!!

I hate to see a thread get ignored. While I wouldn't call myself a King's X fan, I do remember hearing their songs and thinking it was a really cool mix of big meaty guitar sounds with lush harmonies on top.

chords are everything

I have seen them live about 7 times and even went through a phase where me and some buddies put together a band and did an entire kings x set (although a little week i must say) I have met ty a couple of times and he is about the coolest guy in the world. His vibrato is cooler to look at then jennifer aniston's arse

Fellers!!
King's X fans--who'd a thunk it!!

I've seen them 2 times (around 93') in a med-sized club and to this day, of all the amazing musicians I've seen and met, those shows STILL top my list of being the finest, most entertaining musicial performance. I wasn't sure if they could pull all the vocal harmonies off live, but I assure you, they WHOOPED arse--it was BEYOND amazing!!
Turtle, Dogman & Earcandy are both good--go check out Gretchen Goes to Nebraska--it will change your life!!!!
I'm glad they are still around, I really like their earlier stuff, still makes my head spin!!

"Give me a Kendrick and a chain saw and....wait, what was I talking about?"

just saw them on their 10 year anniversary tour and he was using his new yamaha guitars with duncans, wilkinson bridges into a pod pro into a boogie power amp, and he had the MM4 with expression pedal sitting on the floor with an expression pedal and the FB4 running the POD pro.........he also had a rackmounted rectifier head in the rack, but it wasnt even turned on.........two yamaha cabs, and two rectifier cabs........and his hands.........what a frikin pimp......his vibrato is just about second to none.... Doug had a rack full of stuff but he was using the Yamaha modeling preamp that Ty supposedly endorses in there a GT preamp, and sitting on top was a Traynor head into two or three SVT cabs. Their harmonies..........right on it was killing me how they could do all those polyrhthmic figures and sing harmonies at the same time. I think each of them have 4 halves to each of their brains

Very cool - I saw them in Providence during the Dogman tour - I think that was the Dual Rec / Zion phase.

Fave albums - I gotta say I think they lost it in later years. Self titled would be my #1 followed close by FHL and then Gretchen. Dogman and OOTSP tied next, then everything else. I don't even own anything after Ear Candy. I've got some demos of them doing here comes the sun when they were called "The Edge" - very, very cool.

I first heard them on Headbangers ball around '88. It was the video to "Over my Head" I was blown away mostly by the sould in Dougs voice. I bought "Kings X" and "Gretchen goes to Nebraska" I have loved those guys ever since.

Songs like Don't Believe It, Prisoner, World Around Me, etc... I wish I could write tunes like that!

The only thing I never cared for was Ty's singing voice. He is great during the harmonies, but I can't stand when he sings lead.
