He's just an incredible musician and a nice human being.
I might get a chance to go and see him. |

I saw Carlton, Ford, and Di Meola together at a concert in November.
Carlton has the best tone I've ever heard. period. Two $15,000 Dumble heads is all it takes! |

Now here is a REAL musician. Today's punk kids could learn a thing or two from him!

My father-in-law and I went and saw him last summer in Florida and it was a great show. He did all the hits with the talk box too. He's a really underrated player if you ask me. But, you didn't, did you?

I haven't seen a LOT of bands or guitar players, but most people are very surprised when I tell them, in my opinion, that Peter Frampton is the best live straight ahead rock guitarist I have ever seen. No whammy bar, minimal effects, great tone and hot licks. Not to mention his voice is still as good as it has ever been.
I think Larry Carlton and Peter Frampton are equal in their abilities, but different stylistically. I've seen both and they both knocked my socks off, for different reasons. Frampton was very audience friendly and ad-libbed some really funny stuff with the audience. For $25 it was the best show I've seen in a long while. |

quote:Nahh, Carlton was better technically, hes a jazz player, but Frampton is good, nice chops and taste, and he could write some good songs- hey the guy is bald now, or is that Leif Garrett? |

That may be, but I'm not one that enjoys "technical" players all that much. When I saw LC play in his 3 piece band in the early 90's he jammed more, and I had more fun at that show than when I saw him with a larger band. I think the more musicians in the group, the less you get to stretch out and improvise. Frampton obviously knows what he is doing and seems to consistently fly by the seat of his pants more. I guess I just like that style a little more.
PF isn't quite bald yet, but he is getting there. Don't know about Mr. Garrett. I'll never forget the horrified look on my brother's face when he got a Leif Garrett album for Christmas from our grandparents. I wish I had a photo of his face at the exact moment he saw the album cover. Priceless. |
