"Long to Be Loose" and the live "Two Drink Minimum" are ground-breaking albums. This guy is from the New York jazz scene and he's coming from a very different place.Extremely
advanced chord work yet it all has a bad-ass rock attitude.Him and Mike Stern have brought Jimi's improvasational spirit to the Jazz table.Check them out!

Seeing Mike Stern perform live was a very enjoyable experience. Jazz guitar with a blues/rock edge.

Right on toneman. I finally got to see Mike late last year. I was walking around the village with my girl and I mentioned that we had to find the 55 bar. We found it and sure enough the sign outside says "Tonight Mike Stern" we went in as he was tuning up and proceeded to get our world rocked.

Where else do you see a guy like that play, take a break during the drum solo, give his guitar to someone to hold so he can take a leak. Come back and finish the tune, god I love NYC!! MH

love them both.´been listening to the for many years. had a stern period for a couple of years and played/jammed to his albums night and day....BUT got a bit tired of him. his albums are very similar. first time you heard a new tune you knew exactly what would happen next. got a bit boring. not a very good tune either....but i still love his standard album and what he did with Bunny Brunell and some other jazz albums...he´s great live too..looking forward to his next album.
Krantz is a monster. signals, long to be loose and 2 drink minimum are all great albums...but i really like his latest one too. jams recorded live during many bar gigs...he pasted the good bits together and made an album out of them. order it from Wayne direct. he´ll sign it too...
