Way to go Dolan. I have seen Michael S. about 8 times and he has got it. From way back in his UFO days to M.S.G. Unfortunately there was some bad news for the upcoming UFO tour. Some drinking and fighting between band members and now it is all canceled. Anyway, their new album is pretty good. He is not the most famous guitarist, but he will normally sell out a couple of nites in the city he plays in. Ever listen to Wolf Hoffman - Accept, very good as well. Something about euro-metal that rocks. I guess it's not too popular now. Beats NU-metal any day for me. Now if we could only get Uli Roth to rejoin the scorps.

Mike,
Schenker is indeed a great player.I have been fortunate to see him once in the Baltimore area when UFO was on the "Walk On Water" tour.It was a great show and in a club setting which was even better.I got to meet him in person and had him sign his Thank You CD.I also met the rest of the band and had them sign the Lights Out album.
Its a shame that the younger guitar players and us older ones for that matter dont know who he is.I agree he never has gotten the recognition he so deserves but for those of us who know his playing.......we have been blessed!!
Wolf Hoffman?Accept brother!!!Balls To The Walls playing!!I didnt get into Wolf as much as Schenker but he is awesome.Uli is the man also...Astral Skies!!
Maybe someday the word will be out on these players and players and listeners as well will realize that Godsmack and all these other "metal" bands may have talent but they cannot top these guys!!

Guys, i absolutely agree that Schenker is THE MAN for tone and technique. And he still plays with the fire and grace he has always had. The new UFO is pretty darn good. Other Euro players to check out are (Sweden's) Jon Norum, especially his "Face The Truth" album with Glenn Hughes. I too enjoyed Accept a great deal. Anyone ever hear Matthias Dieth, who played with (Accept vocalist) Udo Dirkschneider on several solo albums? He plays some breathtaking stuff on the 1990 UDO release "Faceless World"

As musicians, I guess we all agree on the importance of supporting other musicians by buying their records, however, I had to mention this benefit that Napster provides. If you go to a music store and ask for Uli Jon Roth or Michael Schenker albums, they dont know what the hell youre talking about. I could listen to these fine musicians thanks to Napster, and if their records were available at decent prices, I would definitely buy some of them. BTW, another great band that many people in music stores dont know about is Marillion (when Fish was in the band). Their stuff doesnt seem to be widely available in the US.

I don't care! As long as it will filter out these immature brats from getting on here and ruining a good discussion.

This why I quit posting to a few forums in the past... people without respect for other's opinions....
I'd like the filter idea, but this would also be hard on getting new people in here wich is bad...
Anyhow this forum is one of the 2 forum I can still enjoy and learn from people with a common interest.

Let me say this..........I did NOT post that crap that was typed up above my name.I cant believe that this is happening. The owner of this forum,I believe has access to our I.P. #'s and can prove once and for all that cleatus is behind this stuff.I also believe that cleatus has posed as seabass among others and has even used the Music Toyz guys handle.I have contacted Yahoo about him sending me nasty e-mails and I WILL take every legal action I have to stop his childish behaviour.I am 38 years old and would not ever act like this on ANY forum that I post in.
Although people who know me know that I'm not always gonna agree they know that I'm not gonna use foul and childish language. This is very demeaning to my credibility and my stature in this forum.I appeal to the person that runs this forum to clear me of any wrong doing in the above incident.I have posted my e-mail address painters@fastol.com before and do so again.I have nothing to hide behind.I have even been in touch with people on this forum one on one through our e-mails and they know that I wouldnt post crap like that.

Schenker is pretty good but nobody has even said a word about Steive Ray Vaughn,Jimmi Hendrix, or Eric Clapton. In my mind these three are the best guitar players in the world. Till this day I have not seen anyone even come close to Stevie Ray Vaughn. That man was a great guitar player and even a better person. It saddens my heart to think that such a great musian is now gone.

what about al dimeola, joe pass, wes montgomerey, paco de lucia, or john maclaughlin? Let's hear it for the jazz virtuosos as well. Though these guys come from a much different place stylisticly than jimi or stevie, I think they are equally as good. In a melodic sense, I feel they are better, even as much as I love the blues. Now this is merely my OPINION, so don't go having an aneurism over it.
