It's true... the rumors have been confirmed. Van Halen will be reuniting wtih David Lee Roth and touring and recording together. I don't know all the details but heard that it could have something to do with money and that on tour, DLR would be in a different hotel than EVH. What do you guys think of the fact that the original VH lineup is together again? Do you think it will last? Will we get any meaningful music out of it?

Clarification to my original post: RUMORS were floating ever since Van Halen split with Gary Cherone but they were not confirmed until recently in an official press release from Eddie himself through his reps. Eddie has apparently fully recovered from his bout with cancer (of the mouth?) and plans are being made for a 2002 tour and the record is being made as we speak. What do you guys think now?

What do you guys think?
They should've hung it up years ago. if you've heard 1984 and before, you've heard everything they are capable of.

I can't wait, it'll be the tour of the year!! DLR maybe going bald but he's still the only singer for van Halen. They will be the most rocking band around and hopefully put Rage under for good.

Sammy doesn't suck, although is stuff with VH isn't all that exciting to me. He was great on the first two Montrose albums. At least he's not as arrogant as David Lee Roth...I love the earlier VH stuff but I think David Lee Roth's head got so big they had to have roadies help him carry it onstage...I don't see how the others can work with a guy like that. I wonder if they can do a good album together anyway.

I for one can't wait to see them!! I think the VH w/ DLR is probably one of the rockingest bands ever. Sammy sucks, but Gary takes the cake for sucking. Long live the new old Van Halen. I hope they put useless bands like Staind to death!!!

DLR & EVH will never perform or record together again, you heard it here first.
I must admit, Van Halen with Roth was, and I repeat WAS a really good band. Nevermind the fact that Roth is an egotistical asshole and ruins every band he is in, ie VH, and his own solo band; giving the boot to Billy Sheehan, and resulting in Steve Vai quitting. However, Roth is a one dimensional singer-- he is a joke, a character, a parody of himeself, and can't sing for shit. He is perfect for the Vegas circuit. Van Halen with Sammy Hagar may have not had the fire of the VH/Roth combination, but you have to admit, Hagar helped save that band from otherwise certain career death. Remember this too, 1984 with the exception of 'Hot For Teacher' and 'Panama' was pretty awful compared to the earlier stuff. I can't see the original VH getting back together and writing great stuff, and I don't want to see the original members getting together doing a reunion tour playing the greatest hits. Eddie is a great guitarist, he should probably do his own thing for a while.

This is just great. Roth will be without his hair and Eddie won't have his tongue. Now that Anthony's off doing a new band with Hagar, they might not even have a bass player unless Kip Winger feels like joining the fray.

Dave & Sammy are touring together in a double headliner show, with Michael Anthony playing bass with Sammy. Warner Brothers dropped Van Halen in January, so even if they did have a singer they don't have a label. Eddie & Alex told Michael that if he played with Roth or Sammy he would be out(he entertained offers from both). So I'm pretty sure the band is basically over.Too bad, I just perused a bootleg video of VH @ the U.S. festival in 1983 & they were the ultimate rock band @ their peak.
