It's a toss up between Nsync and Brittany Spears, I guess it all depends on taste.

I don't know anything about Nsync (and I don't want to), but Manilow has some great songs, and ABBA were incredible. If you read some of the old interviews with Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow, etc.) you'll find that he used to listen to ABBA a lot.
There is a lot to learn from different styles of music. There's also a lot of crap these days.
