I think Morello rocks but I think the DJ induced solos are getting a tad old...something new would be in store soon...which is cool in itself

I'm not a huge fan although I do agree that he is a great guitar player. the thing I dig is that is an inovator that's for sure.

Innovator my ass!! He's only an imatator, and he and Rage are probably the most formula based rock band in the world. It's the same song everytime I hear a new one I can't tell if it's new or old, tell me if this sounds familiar, drum roll(cadense) then the guitar and bass come in w/ a riff then the guitar goes into wah or whatever when the vocals for verse 1 comes in, then the guitar comes back in w/ the riff for the chorus which of course is the name of the song, usually if you're unsure about a rage song title listen to the last word in the chorus the one he really put emphasis on that's it, repeat what just happened then a guitar solo(snore) is that a guitar, no way!! A whammy AND a Wah??? Unheard of. Repeat the verse then the chorus twice and outro. Every goddamn song!! If you want to hear something good go find bands that are not fed to you by MTV or radio. Bands like Don Caballero,US MAple, King Crimson, Magma,Faust,Derek Bailey, This HEat , Upsilon Acrux, Cromtech. Stop being the perfect consumer and find your own music and guitar player to worship, not just the flavor of the year by Rolling Stone mag.

Hey the truth!
I guess you have never heard Rage live.
Or have you even heard the first cd.
Yeah, to me they have gone comercial.
But Tom Morello is really an acomplished guitarist.
He has jazz back ground & can shread all over the place.
Just because you don't care for a style of music doesn't mean it sucks!

No matter what you think of his playing, you've got to respect the man for graduating from Harvard. How many guitarists of his level, have an intellect to match their "talent"?

Yeah, and the singer from Bad Religion is a teacher at Harvard,do you want to applaud him for his "talent" , come on this guy's lyrics are a joke, political science for the 5th grader. I mean try not to laugh when you say this "he's a 21st century digital boy" WOW Morello must've taken his class at Harvard. I'll tell you what Harvard taught Morello, how to make money!! in my opinion most of the negative feedback I
have seen has been because people were probably jealous. Not since EVH's tapping has a technique become so widely spread. Tom
did for Whammy what Hendrix did for wah: now
practically everyone uses what was fomerly an
esoteric, awkward sounding device. i know
I got a couple Whammy pedals because of him.

rage's first cd was great. once tom did the part on people of the sun. it was all over. that song is what everyone knows them for. all they hear is that damn allen wrech and they say, what the fuck is that. then they dismiss him as an innovative guitarist. and yes, he was innovative to an extent but you didn't see evh doing his tapping thing on every song. it's a classic example of too much of a good(?) thing.

Yes, but he is versatile with his sounds.
mlostly the whammy is for solos and the occasional random effect. He also does really cool stuff with the toggle switch:
The DJ solo he does on Bulls on Parade is my
favorite example of that.

Renegades is incredible: Tom's soloing is brilliant. He takes his usual "anything goes" whammy noises and multi tracks to the point of having twisted guitar symphonies.
One example would be his machine gun into a dive bombing airplane sound that wouldn't be possible having been done any other way. People mistake his noises for recklessness:
in actuality he is quite dedicated to making
weird noises and even an incredible player like Steve Vai has probably learned a few tricks from him.(they are professional buddies, after all)

Rage is great. It's not their fault that every band looking to jump on a bandwagon
jumped on theirs. The Truth, spouting off about all his favorite bitchin' bedroom bands. Just because you listen to bands that are a small pimple on the ass of the music industry, doesn't make everyone who likes Rage an idiot. And whoever said something about Havard should do a little reading. Havard is not the fine place of higher education they'd have you believe. Getting in is a lot harder than graduating. Liberal hell hole.

Who do you think the new singer for Rage should be? I heard that Chris Cornell won't
be and that Rage Against the Machine might change their name. Also, depending on the singer, do you think that their style of music could significantly change because their singer won't rap? Oh well, whoever they get, most likely it will be disappointing just like with "Van Hagar" back in the day. I just hope that Tom, like Edward, continues to right kick ass riffs with trippy textures and DJ or shred solos.
