The band I'm with was recently booked to host an open jam night at a local Blues/Jazz Bar. We play every other Monday. Every other Monday the Larry McCray band will be playing(that's a tough act to follow) and I've been lucky enough to get to know these guys and it's awesome to watch them play.
Even though I'm a guitar player I think I'm most impressed watching Jonny B play the bass. I know now why he is the most recorded bass player in blues history.
I had I chace to play through Larry's set up and it's not you're run of the mill "blues guy" rig. He plays a 120watt Red Bear with 2 4x12 cabs and an Ibanez tube king. Pure raw power!! Made my Bassman feel really wimpy.
It's really cool to be around musicians of this caliber. It's a real learning experience. And it's quite humbling also.
