Can you guys suggest the chords to that funky stuff Brian May does in the middle of the song - Another One Bites the Dust.
Thanks much in advance.

I've never played it... what key is it in, E minor maybe? If so, it's probably just an E minor to A minor thing. Try these two voicings with lots of percussive chankin' & scratchin' -

Bar & a half of E minor, half bar of A minor (?!)

--7--5--
--8--5--
--9--5--
--9--7--
--7-----
--------

Maybe at the end of the phrase try something like this. [Hammer on to the A minor shape = (H.O.)]

--12--12--------12-
--13--12--------13-
--14--12-(H.O.)-14-
--14--12--------14-
--12--12--------12-
-------------------

I don't have the tune here to listen to, so I could very well be talking out my arse on this one...

Actually, as opposed to doing this, you can probably just slide into the A minor voicing that I tabbed previously, from a half step below in pitch (G# minor > A minor). Or you can alternate between the two. Either should cop the vibe.

Thanks a bundle. Whats simple for you, takes a long time for me. LOL. It would be nice if I took lessons again. But I greatly appreciate what you have done here. Printing out and probably try this out tonite.

If you play along with the record it's in Fm. That part that he plays is a great "tip of the hat" to Nile Rodgers of 'Chic' who was/is the king of that type of funk guitar.

Other than being in the wrong key, is what I came up with in the ball park? Just curious.

Not entirely oh godfather, but I can't criticise someone who has given so much for so little(free)LOL. I have not found time other than a few minutes to try it and it seems like it can work from the first chord, but the change to the second does not. If I can find out I will post. BTW, is there a program that you use to write your tab above. It came out nicely. I might not be a great player, but I would not mind sharing some stuff as well.
Thanks again.

Other than being a 1/2 step away Corleone, I think you're dead on. B. May definitely uses the 1st set of voicings that you tabbed. It's possible that it's Fm7 instead of Fm and Db6 as opposed to Bbm - but I don't think so.

Unfortunately, no. But I 'd like to find something consistent. The problem with doing tab in the digital format is that it often doesn't line up properly after it is submitted. Copying & pasting from email & other sources can be weird as well. Probably the reason more folks don't do tab is that it's a PITA in the digital medium.

Oh well, when I have some more time I will try to post some stuff. I must say that I was fingering the second chord wrong and that is why it sounded off to me. Trust me I really appreciate the knowledge you give up here. On a different funk groove note - my wife pulled out some Aretha Franklin, Best Of CD and there is a very cool song - Rock Steady. Bad to the bone to say the least. No relation groove wise to the old Bad Company song.
