I thought I would post this in the Guitar Lessons section because I just had a great guitar lesson from Tomo.
This is my review of the Accelerate Your Guitar Playing 2 (AYGP 2) from the Tomo DVD Tour Box. Both DVDs are absolutely fabulous. I have been working with AYGP1 and found it both instructional and inspiring. AYGP2 takes up where AYGP1 left off. The material on both DVSs follows a very logical order and method and is easy for the student to follow. The lessons progress from one level to the next. One area of AYGP2 that I really liked is that it shows you how to use the entire neck for your phrases and licks as opposed to getting stuck in one place (which we've all be in at one time or another). This DVD has really helped me escape "pentatonic hell." Although the DVD is presented in Japanese, I was still able to learn everything presented. Music is the same in any language. It was actually quite fun listening to Tomo teach in Japanese. His passion and enthusiasm for the guitar and teaching it quite evident and although I don't know a word of Japanese, I could almost understand what he was saying by his expressions. The DVD comes with a booklet which is extremely useful. This DVD makes you want to pick up your guitar and play. I highly recommend it. Thanks a million, Tomo!!! Jim |

I've got the first one. It is a great "nuts and bolts" tutorial. I especially like his demo of the many R & B to Blues rhythm styles. It packs a lot, into a single "song".
Be warned, though. It is all about work. You had better be prepared to start practicing! It's a serious, focused approach. Good stuff. |
