T H A N K S !

Saved that... if only to illustrate WHY it's usefull to learn the 1,3,5 formula for major chord and know how to find them on the neck for ANY key. Big Grin

From there it's easier to convince anyone to learn the minor 7th and the other chords Wink

Cool chart! I may print that and post it in my studio, just to scare the H*** out of new students. Big Grin

Student: "How do I play an A chord?"

Instructor: "Here you go. Just memorize this, and come back next week for the written test." HAHAHAHAHAHA

Thanks, Klasaine.

Man that's great. I printed out 15 copies immediately. I know at least two of those grips... onward and upward. Big Grin

He's got a sheet like that for every type of major, minor, dominant and believe it or not - diminished and alt.dom. chords. In more than a couple of keys.
All in the pursuit of the proper melody note and bass for a solo guitar arrangement.

There is of course NEW STUFF up his site ... www.tedgreene.com

Lessons and the "forum" section.

I've been saving the sheet for the perfect opportunity - happened today. I showed a student that some songs contain a G chord with a 'D'/5th on the B string, instead of a 'B'/3rd.

"Wow, there's more than one way to play a G chord?!" I whipped out the A chord sheet, and it scared her half to death. Actually, I'm not sure she'll be back!

None of this relates to Ted Greene's insights, BUT it's quite telling of what music teachers typically encounter. Want to keep a huge client base? Show folks what they already know, tell a joke. On the other hand, keep great stuff like this voicings chart available for folks that are truly hungry and curious.
