Seeing the post about Pedal Steel Licks, made me think:

We could all get together and make our own little "Reference Library" for licks, etc.

If everybody just posted Tab/Notation or Clips of 1 or 2 licks, we'd get quite a bit compiled.

Just thought it would be fun! If anybody is interested, I'm in. Just post them here, I guess.

These are a couple of ideas for playing over GM7. Just superimposing the Am7 and D9 arpeggios over it.

Over GM7 Play it's ii V (Am D7) These resolve to F#7 As In "The Thrill

I was messing with the "Pedal Steel" and Country feel, using this same concept of Superimposing a ii V Over A G. So, here's some ideas I came up with:

Of course, the Bar Lines don't line up! Or, the Chord names and text.

The first 2 Licks use 6ths., 1/2 Step Bends, and a slow, laid back feel. Try to keep all note ringing as long as possible.

The next 3 sound good with a more Chicken Pickin, snappy feel.

That was fun!

Okay, I tried to line them up better, but this is as much as I'm going to do. What is the deal with the whole shifting of the Tabs? Jeez!

Here's a cool idea in 5ths. It's from a video he did on "FPE TV" I think it's called. Found it on YouTube. Just by sliding either a Whole Step, or a Half Step, you can fit it over Major or Minor sounds.

Here's the Basic idea, over A:

Amaj7+11 Am11
4/4
Gtr I
|--------------11--|------------10--||----|
|------------9-----|----------8-----||----|
|------------------|----------------||----|
|-------9S11-------|-----9S10-------||----|
|-----7------------|---7------------||----|
|---5--------------|-5--------------||----|

Climb up a 5th. from the Root. Climb up another 5th., then either a Whole Step or a Half Step Slide. Then, climb up a 5th. two more times.

Here is a Practice Routine he said to try, to get the sounds and fingerings under your fingers:

Dm Db Dbm
|-|----------------15--|---------------15--|----------------14---|----|
|-|-------------13-----|------------13-----|------------12-------|----|
|-|--------------------|-------------------|---------------------|----|
|-|-------14S15--------|------13S15--------|------13S14----------|----|
|-|----12--------------|---11--------------|---11----------------|----|
|-|-10-----------------|-9-----------------|-9-------------------|----|

C Cm B
|----------------14---|----------------13---|---------------13---|----|
|------------12-------|------------11-------|-----------11-------|----|
|---------------------|---------------------|--------------------|----|
|------12S14----------|------12S13----------|-----11S13----------|----|
|---10----------------|---10----------------|---9----------------|----|
|-8-------------------|-8-------------------|-7------------------|----|

Bm Bb Bbm
|--------------12--|---------------12---|-------------11--|----|
|-----------10-----|-----------10-------|-----------9-----|----|
|------------------|--------------------|-----------------|----|
|-----11S12--------|-----10S12----------|-----10S11-------|----|
|---9--------------|---8----------------|---8-------------|----|
|-7----------------|-6------------------|-6---------------|----|

You can keep it going, all the way down to the Open E position.

Here's another "Run" that's fun to play. Kinda an Eric Johnson type of vibe to these Arpeggios.

The last one you posted are quite fun and easy if you fingerpick.That's the kind of stuff I fool around contanstly; using regular boring chord shape and making 2 or 3 things out of them therefore implying economy of movement on my fret hand and access to a lot from one simple shape.

Looking at the C Dm Em F if you were to finger the barre chord version of these and fingerpick... using your lick and adding in the 2 notes from the G string and high E together as a ringing diad you can have some fun...

Sprinkle in some color by moving your pinky a whole step up on the B string (7instead of 5, 8 instead of 6, 10 instead of 8, and 12 instead of 10) teh last one is a bit tricky at first but I like doing those things. You can slide to that if you prefer but adding those once in a while can tuen a simple progression into aeither a longer one or a variation of it for added depth in different sections of a song.

Pretty cool! I've been messing wih your suggestions, just now. I'll probably try to write a short piece, just to incorporate them a little.

Thanks for sharing!

Glad it helped... that's stuff I got from dissecting rhythm playing from Vitto Bratta and Andy Summers, they both add to simple chords.

I like how you can combine 2 simple chord shape into one chord block so that depending on what strings your hitting with the pick(or fingering) you get acess to different things from within one position.All comes natural to me since I've been doing it for so long been poart of my way of playing forever.
