I don't know Bob personally, but I know
some of you do and might want to know and help.

I saw this in TGP:

http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=345829

Apparently Bob is being treated for cancer. I apologize if this is something not appropriate to post here. I thought it might help for people to know.

you know maybe we could help, everyone really pulled together during hurricane Katrina, donating pedals to auction ect. maybe we could come up with something?

I've actually been talking to Bob about this for a few weeks. I know some others have too.

The problem was getting some kind of financial aid for Bob since
he's never had health insurance.

He's been either a professional musician and/or gear builder nearly his whole adult life, so the cost of health insurance has always been prohibitive.

So a few of us have been talking about what to do. He has secured some financial assistance, but this leaves an enormous amount that he still has to lay out.
When you consider the incredibly high costs of cancer treatment,
the part he still has to pay is staggering.
I could not believe how much he still needs to raise.
Frown

So of course any help is greatly apprciated.

Bob's an awesome dude, one of the BEST people I've never met! I mean we've spoken many times on the phone, but never met in person. I can tell you that he's a really generous person and extremely intelligent. He's passionate about music and thrives on building super-sturdy and super-cool sounding gear. He really cares about his family and friends, would give you the shirt off his back. Cares about his customers like they're family too and always delivers his finely tuned gear in a speedy and reliable way. Not too many boutique builders can claim this fact.
I think Bob Sweet, along with Brian Mena, Mike Fuller, Zack Vex, and Jorge Tripps were Ted's first boutique pedal builders and still are today.

Like it has been said here already,
the best way to contribute is to send to Bob directly (via Paypal):

b0bsweet@bellsouth.net

That's right, the "o" in Bob is actually a ZERO and not a capital "o"

Ted's got something up his sleeve (and why I didn't post here yet as he's getting back to me).... some kind of autographed (?) instrument that may be auctioned, I'm not sure of his plan.

But anyway, I was also thinking that for folks who may not have money to contribute, we could also do something like the Katrina auctions we had (thx to Donner) conducted here back when that went down.

So if anyone can't contribute funds but might have some gear available, post it here on this thread for sale and folks can make offers on it.
We can keep a tally on the monies raised and send it to Bob's Paypal acc't. directly.

Thanks to everyone for whatever you can do, gonna' sticky this to the top of the forum now.

Paul

I survived cancer with no income for 8 months so you have no idea how much I'm pulling for you Bob. Try to keep a positive attitude. I know this sounds difficult but it really helps treat the cancer. Worry and fear are your enemy Bob. Just remember that the treatment IS going to cure you completely! The Salvation Army "yeah the people with the bells at Christmas time" can help a lot. I speak from experience. You can get through this and look back at it later in life thinking, Yeah I did it!

Wow--not the way I wished to start my Thursday morning. Frown
Bob is such a gentleman and all around great guy. I would hate this to happen to anyone, but for it to hit him seems completely unfair and horribly wrong.

Bob, we are ALL pulling for you, more than you know!!

On a side note, and I wouldn't do anything as distasteful as promote myself or my biz on this thread. I did recently change careers and get back into the insurance business specializing in life, supplemental ins. and investment strategies. I'm (an independent agent) working for 2 of the largest life insurance companies in the world and one has a cancer treatment center in Atlanta. I'll contact them and see if they have any kind of assistance programs.
