ok, i own a fender precision bass...1978 and all original parts...has a stainless steel plate which i'm told is rare...i check and it still has the fender # on the back of it so it's original i suppose
i play flatwound strings and the bass sounds better than anything i have ever had or played (and that's a huge list of bass guitars)
my bass is one heavy mutha...although i'm sure that helps with the tone
