I have a Robin Medley Standard that has custom graphics on it, the guitar basically looks like an American Express card! It has a humbucker in the bridge and two single coils in the middle/neck position. My Medley has a 24 fret rosewood fretboard on a maple neck, the neck feels almost identical to my Jackson USA Dinky DK1's neck, except it doesn't have the shark tooth inlays. The fretboard is thick, over 1/4", the peghead is V shaped with 4 tuners on the upper side and 2 tuners on the lower side. The peghead is attached to the neck using a scarf joint and is angled back.
I bought this guitar in the mid/late 80's and have played it a good amount (I have alot of guitars so for one to get played a good amount means it plays well) The guitar has an original Kahler locking tremolo on it and came with 09's when new. I bought it at a dealer in Lombard Illinois called Music City and had them set it up for 10's but when I went to pick the guitar up they screwed the setup so bad I almost didn't buy it. Luckily I have a good luthier that I trust and he adjusted it and set it up the way I like my guitars rigged. I contacted Robin a few times prior to buying it and they where great. It was made in Texas and it sounds excellent. I would not hesitate to buy another one, except I can't find any dealers locally (Chicagoland area). Music City went belly up. |

I was a guitar tech for Kitaro back in the 80's and his guitar player used a Robin Guitar. I thought it was a nice well made instrument and American made which was cool. His was Deep Burgendy with two humbuckers,Floyd Bridge and strat like body. It remeinded me of a Jackson clone but of better quality.

i own 3,& they are all great guitars.a local store
carried them for a few years.the first one i bought was a revival(strat style).i wasn't looking for a strat, but i went in the store,& found this beautiful guitar.it was a '94 model,& the sales rep brought it there to show the new features the 94 models would have stock.it has a mega-flamed maple neck w/ rosewood fretboard,light-weight ash body in see-thru blonde & a red shell guard.it also came w/ their new rio grande vintage p/u's.after i played it,even though i wasn't in the market for a strat-type guitar i had to have it.& i got it @ the '93 price.i would compare it to any strat type guitar that costs twice as much. how much do i love it?early '95 they came out w/ the wrangler, their version of a tele,w/ 2 strat p/u's & a tele bridge p/u.i ordered a flame maple/rosewood neck,& vintage style p/u's.i had the ash body finished in tobacco sunburst.when it arrived it was so awesome i ordered another wrangler w/ an all maple fretboard,see-thru blonde on the ash, vintage rio grandes & a parsons/white b-bender. & a red shell guard w/ matching bender cover.when it was almost ready the owner called,& said they were waiting on tele bridge p/u's, but i could have a red shell covered one,@ no cost!what a beautiful guitar.& they cost about 1/2 of a new fender custom shop guitar(@ least @ that time). they are a small company,& all guitars are pretty much handmade 1 @ a time. & their les paul & hollow-body guitars are really nice too.if you can find them used, because they don't say fender or gibson, they can be found for even more ridiculous prices.except my 3,they are not, & will never be for sale! |
