I don't know why, but I've got the urge to pick up a Rickenbacker 381V69 in Fireglo lately. Haven't played one yet...just wondered if anybody else had this weird urge?

You don't play a Rickenbacker, A Rickenbacker plays you.

I have a 1996 Turq. 330/6 that I love. Well made, great sounding work of art. Beautiful clean with a little delay thru a super. In 1999 I ordered a Mid. Blue 370/6. Took 9 months to finally get it. Damn gorgeous, white pickguard, chrome schallers and "R", Shark fin inlays, bound neck and body. Played great / looked better, and had that Ric smell too! I kept it for a year. Never got quite the tone that I wanted. The 330 kicked its butt! I kept lying to myself that I would find the right amp/ cord/pedal/string/voodoo spell to make it sound right. But, Alas.. I made 200.00 when I sold it the week that I advertised it. The guy was soo happy, and I called him later. I think he found his sound. Sure was pretty though

I wonder what this knob does?

For RIC 12's, choose the "Tom Petty" model with the wider neck, in terms of playability. Nothing sounds quite like a RIC 12, but vintage and vintage reissue models are just a pain in the butt to play. For an excellent sounding / playing 12 string, keep an eye out for a good deal on the discontinued Danelectro 12. Not as sweet a deal as when they were readily available, and does not sound like a RIC, but is infinitely more playable.
